Since we all have a hard time travelling and enjoying social gatherings like wine tastings, the need to think differently led South African vineyard, Constantia Glen, to do a digital tasting. Using Zoom the winemaker lead approx 50 people. It worked out really well and was a nice experience. I’ve tried some of their wines before and knew what was waiting.
Ideally located below Constantia Nek, just moments from the bustling Cape Town city centre, Constantia Glen is a picturesque boutique wine estate producing ultra-premium, cool climate wines. The 60 hectare property, situated at an altitude of 130 – 270 metres above sea level, has a mere 29 hectares under vine with production of our wines limited to 120 000 bottles per annum.– Constantia Glen
So, how did the tasting go? Well, my personal favorites were the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, and most of all their flagship red wine called Five. It’s a fantastic Bordeaux blend that is worth at least twice what it costs.

Super fresh, easy to drink, made for a nice and warm summer day.
A lot of minerals, as well as a tone of goose, berries, which really makes this an easy wine to drink.
Buy some nice shrimps and enjoy as a brunch on a summer weekend.
The price is approximately 130 SEK and can be bought online.
Constantia Glen Five

Heavy with a lot of earthy tones as well as plums & dark fruits that just melts in your mouth leaving the earthy tones behind.
Made out of a five grape blend: Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec this is a wine that I would serve with lamb or beef.
If like me, you’re into heavier wines you can enjoy a glass by itself as well.
The price is approximately 350 SEK and can be bought online.
